Sunday, October 7, 2012Monday, October 8, 2012Tuesday, October 9, 2012Wednesday, October 10, 2012ALL SCHOONERS to be docked in Baltimore by 1200. Captains’ Meeting and All Hands Briefing · 1300 Hours · The captains of all vessels racing from Annapolis to Portsmouth must attend this meeting. Transponders will be distributed. Race logistics, safety issues and plans for special contingencies (it is hurricane season!) will be discussed. Parade of Sail · 1700 Hours · An opportunity for all of the beautiful schooners in the race to show off in Baltimore. The public is invited to view the schooners from the Canton, Fells Point and Inner Harbor shorelines. All Hands Party · 1900 Hours · This is a private (invitation only) party for captains, crew, sponsors and volunteers at Bo Brooks Restaurant. Thursday, October 11, 2012Skippers' Meeting · 0730 Hours · All participating schooners must have formal representation or risk disqualification. Captains may not delegate attendance. Detailed starting procedures will be given, watches will be synchronized to GPS time and weather will be discussed. Cast-off for the Start · 0830 Hours · The distance from the Baltimore docking area to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge at Annapolis and the starting line area to its south is about 21 NM. Please hail "schooner race committee" on VHF 01 with your ETA if you'll be late for your gun. See racing rules for details. On the BayRace Start · 1330 Hours · The race begins just south of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge near Annapolis as a magnificent gathering of schooner-rigged vessels begin their adventure down the Chesapeake. Friday, October 12, 2012Race Finish Line · The finish line for classes A and AA is an east-west line at Thimble Shoal Light. Classes B and C finish at Windmill Point and proceed to docking in Portsmouth. Portsmouth, VirginiaFriday, October 12, 2012Saturday, October 13, 2013Schooners may be viewed dockside in Portsmouth on Saturday. Some may be open for tours. Education Program · 0900 Hours · Selected schooners host area students for a hands-on learning experience. Deadline for Calling in Finish Time · 1000 Hours · See Racing Rules and Sailing Instructions. Pig and Oyster Roast · 1300 Hours · This a private party (invitation only) at North Landing Park for captains, crew, sponsors and volunteers. The race results will be announced and awards will be presented in the evening. Sunday, October 14, 2012Captains' Meeting · 0800 Hours · and Breakfast · 0900 Hours · Schooner captains and crews meet at Roger Brown's to discuss the race results, share some sea stories and say a fond farewell to volunteers, sponsors and fellow sailors. This event is not open to the public. |
