Open Docks ˇ 1000-1400 Hours ˇ Schooners may be viewed dockside in Canton at the Baltimore Marine Center at Lighthouse Point.

Baltimore's Outstanding Schooner Salute* ˇ 0930-1200 Hours ˇ Broadway Pier in Fells Point. Experience "The Star-Spangled Banner" through a special sea and land musical extravaganza! On the water, schooners re-enact a battle of the War of 1812, firing upon each other with their cannons. On land, students from Baltimore City's finest sing and play a musical tribute to the USA! Bring a picnic lunch or a thermos of coffee and enjoy filling all your senses of patriotism and history. For more information, please contact Janet Caslow at jlcaslow@hotmail.com.

Open Docks ˇ 1700-1900 Hours ˇ Schooners may be viewed dockside in Canton at the Baltimore Marine Center at Lighthouse Point.

Sail Around the Square* ˇ 1800-2100 Hours ˇ A FUNdraiser hosted by businesses on Canton's O'Donnell Square. Sailors and landlubbers (yes, that means the public!) alike are invited to enjoy a salty poker "sail" and tall tales of races won - and lost - by a bowsprit, and to eat and drink in participating establishments in historic Canton. Collect your poker hand for just $5/person! Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Grunwald Club, 2825 O?Donnell Street. Education Program ˇ 0900 Hours ˇ Selected schooners host area students for a hands-on learning experience.

ALL SCHOONERS to be docked in Baltimore by 1200.

Captains' Meeting and All Hands Briefing ˇ 1300 Hours ˇ The captains of all vessels racing to Portsmouth must attend this meeting.

Parade of Sail ˇ 1700 Hours ˇ An opportunity for all of the beautiful schooners in the race to show off in Baltimore. The public is invited to view the schooners from the Canton, Fells Point, Harbor East and Inner Harbor shorelines. Spectator vessels are reminded to please allow ample room for the vessels to maneuver safely.

All Hands Party ˇ 1900 Hours ˇ This is a private (invitation only) party for captains, crew, sponsors and volunteers at Bo Brooks Restaurant.

Skippers' Meeting ˇ 0730 Hours ˇ All participating schooners must have formal representation or risk disqualification. Captains may not delegate attendance.

Cast-off for the Start ˇ 0830 Hours ˇ The distance from the Baltimore docking area to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge at Annapolis and the starting line area to its south is about 21 NM. Spectator vessels are reminded to please allow ample room for the vessels to maneuver safely.

Race Start ˇ 1330 Hours ˇ The race begins just south of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge near Annapolis as a magnificent gathering of schooner-rigged vessels begin their adventure down the Chesapeake. Spectator vessels are reminded to please allow ample room for the vessels to maneuver safely.

Race Finish Line ˇ The finish line for classes A and AA is an east-west line at Thimble Shoal Light. Classes B and C finish at Windmill Point and proceed to docking in Portsmouth.

Friday Night Rendezvous ˇ 1830 Hours ˇ An informal get-together at Roger Brown's in Olde Towne Portsmouth (316 High Street) for early arrivals. The public is welcome to come and mingle with the crews of the schooners that completed the race.

Saturday, October 19, 2013

Schooners may be viewed dockside in Portsmouth on Saturday. Some may be open for tours.

Education Program ˇ 0900 Hours ˇ Selected schooners host area students for a hands-on learning experience.

Deadline for Calling in Finish Time ˇ 1000 Hours ˇ See Racing Rules and Sailing Instructions.

Pig and Oyster Roast Awards Ceremony ˇ 1300 Hours ˇ This a private party (invitation only) at North Landing Park for captains, crew, sponsors and volunteers. The race results will be announced and awards will be presented.

Sailors' Evening and Sea Chantey Sing-along ˇ 2100 Hours ˇ North Landing Park. This is a private gathering at North Landing Park for captains, crew, sponsors and volunteers who want to enjoy some rousing - and, sometimes, bawdy - sea chanteys.

Captains' Meeting ˇ 0800 Hours ˇ Schooner captains meet at Roger Brown's to discuss the race results.

All Hands Breakfast ˇ 0900 Hours ˇ Schooner captains and crews gather at Roger Brown's for breakfast to share some sea stories and say a fond farewell to volunteers, sponsors and fellow sailors. This event is not open to the public.


* Baltimore's Outstanding Schooner Salute and Sail Around the Square are events being held in conjunction with the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race. They are not official Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race events.
