The Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race The Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race: Racing to Save the Bay

Parade of Sail

Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at 1700 Hours (5 PM)

The schooners racing in this year's Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race will show off during the Parade of Sail! Bill Blanchard will once again act as the Parade of Sail Marshall.2007 Parade of Sail

A Baltimore City Marine Fire Boat will kick off the parade with a water cannon display near the USS Constellation in the Baltimore Inner Harbor at 1630 hours. Then, the schooners, with sails raised, will sail from Fells Point to the Inner Harbor. This will be a unique opportunity for the public to see schooners of all styles, ranging in length from just over 30 feet to more than 150 feet, under sail. Pack your camera and head to the Inner Harbor waterfront to enjoy this spectacular display!

The parade line-up will be in order of class (starting with class AA, followed by A, then B and then C) with the order of the first few boats within each class determined by 2007 race results. This year, the AA fleet will be led by Virginia, followed by Pride of Baltimore II; Woodwind, followed by Antonina, will head up the A fleet; Martha White will lead the B fleet; and the C fleet will be led by Farewell.

Note: The parade order is subject to change.
